A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ha ha ... hey, no turkey porn matches Kathy's pea-porn colection! That picture of the peacock and camera case kills me every time! Seriously, R2elk, I would be interested in how the rest of the flock reacts to some wild hen showing up.

The wild hen that showed up here for seven years in a row pretty much avoided the other hens and kept to herself except for her dealings with the tom. After she got what she came for, she would lay a clutch of eggs down in the field, hatch the eggs and go back to where ever she came from. I have no way of knowing if any of her poults survived to become adults since she showed up every year by herself.

I have seen no signs of my new tom mating with the hens since the first day when he couldn't seem to bend his arthritic knees much. When I crack open Muffin's eggs, they do not look fertile at all. But I thought I saw a bullseye on Swan's egg, so I set 5 of them a week ago and 6 more today. I candled last week's eggs today, and two are alive!! :wee(And one clear and two blood rings. :( Which I left all of them in the incubator just in case.)

So there is still hope for me getting more poults this year! :fl

Finnie drive up here..... I can get you another Tom and some Legbars ...maybe three colors of them too... Although I am low on the crele gold!! (FINALLY)...

I am still going for rusty slate on that wrong.....right or wrong I stick with a thought to the bitter end...:lau

I am not saying you are right or wrong. All I am pointing out is that the poult listed as a Rusty Slate on Porter's site does not look the same as Holm's poult.

has anyone ever had a turkey with a blue eye. because mine has one and i'm worried that it is a disqualification in 4-h because he is my best turkey.

LOL! If only DH was more invested in feeding my poultry addiction. He has a fishing trip up in Boundary Waters planned for September- I'd ask him to stop on the way back.

Hm, or maybe on the way there... and then he could have turkey supervision with setting up camp and canoeing. Maybe the turkey would like to learn fishing!
:lau

I think sending Holm's poult photo to Kevin Porter would be a great idea. Porter could say whether there is much variation in rusty slate down color or not.
