A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I'm talking about the controversy surrounding Ameraucana chickens. Not turkeys. Sorry, I forgot which thread I was on.

I knew what you were talking about..

I think we should form the Rusty Slate Society and get them admitted as a variety.....

It is such a shame to call such beautiful bird a mutt.

I agree with you Ralphie. Sad some of these beautiful birds aren't recognized. I've been involved with writing our dogs breed standard for AKC 20 years ago. NEVER AGAIN! It was a horrible task. That said...I would join the Rusty Slate Association. ( Association sounds more professional than Society)

You know some breeds of dogs have several colors lumped into one class. For instance, Cocker Spaniels... there is black, black with tan points, parti-colored, or ASCOB. ASCOB means any solid color other than black. There are 13 recognized colors that can be show as ASCOB. Surely we could partition APA to recognize several more colors...

Hmmm...we could start something! A new class for turkeys that don't fall into the 8 SPA currently recognized color varieties. Of course we would have to select the colors....like Rusty Slate or Sweetgrass. The Cockers have 13 different colors in their ASCOB class.
