A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Well I guess I'm not quite to the 50 mark yet. But I see the light coming.

I'll be 47 next month.

Jrnash. Heatstrokes and stresses are a bummer. I had one years ago working in grain bind. Hot humid days mess with me something awful. Guess a body doesn't forget. Just like grain dust pneumonia.

When I was in my 20s I had an older gentleman tell me. That when you get in your 40s and 50s thing will start not to work like they used to. And your start to have aches in places you didn't know you in your body.
Naps are a requisite.

I was like ok right. But he was pretty much right. All the dumb things I did in my younger days now give me a good rain indicator. And Aleve is actually prescribed for a daily dose.

To illustrate how squeamish the turkey camp day has me.... When y'all do it,do the others SEE YOU DO IT?? It doesn't bother me with the chickens. The turkeys are SMARTER. The surplus roosters are smart enough to know what a gun is. My wife didn't believe me. If I walk outside with the pellet rifle they head for the hills!!

I always leave mine closed up in the coop when we butcher anything just so nobody can see. I know they can hear though since it's right outside their coop.

I do the same. I like them to talk amongst themselves and come to the realization they need to treat me like a King and try to please me every second of everyday...Or they get the "Tower of London" treatment..

All this talk of how everyone butcher's has me thinking now. I am butchering excess males quail and chickens tomorrow.

I usually do the deed in front of the other birds. But I was butchering quail last year had about 50 done and 5 left. I grabbed the next participant. I got him over the bucket he turned his head looked at me . Then stretched his neck out and lowered his head. He knew what was coming. Almost spared him.

All the others acted totally unaware.

So I may keep them in the dark tomorrow.
