A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Rainy here too Flash.
Poor dear refuses to let loose of that last tail feather. She's hanging on to one last shred of dignity. You can see her new tail is trying to come in

She's trying to avoid being one of those tailless turkeys! Not letting that one tail feather go until the new ones come in. ;)

That really is an awesome photo!

Nope. Nobody has said anything in a while :/ I'll just post new pictures again when they get bigger.
I have been too busy to go on there and bump it. I'll go do that now. I just have to think of some question to ask.

ok, again, but no red light.

"Smurf" Looks like maybe some rusty color might show up?

Mystery poult #1 I've gone back and forth on this one. Sometimes it looks like a rusty black, other times like chocolate but I had others that looked a lot more chocolate than he does.

Pictures of the birds in question?

I quoted the post with the pictures from a week ago. I need to take more pictures since they grow so much each week lol.

I will have to build a wire cage. Just had to deal and prep for a return of a raccoon who mutilated three of my rabbit kits today. Two of which my fiance had to euthanize other was dead on sight.
Aw, I'm sorry about your bunnies. Not a good feeling when that happens.

Speaking of which, I have one of my 6 week poults in a hospital cage. I stupidly let my dachshunds stay out in their dog run a little longer than usual and got busy cooking dinner. If a bird jumps in with them, there is usually a lot of barking to alert me, long before the plucking can get a chance to start. This time they were sneaky quiet. :(
I remembered they were out there, and sure enough, one of the littles was getting mangled. I've had ones with worse wounds heal up really well, so I think it might live. But I won't know until I see how it's doing tomorrow. I'm sort of mad at the dachshunds, but more mad at myself. :(

About being half broad breasted, you should easily be able to tell by the keel area. My crosses are super meaty with a bump of keel and thick legs. Their heritage siblings have very predominant keel and thinner legs.
I will try and check that tomorrow, @TurkeyTimes. Not being a turkey breast/keel expert, I still might not know. lol. That said, the big tom has huge thick legs and feet - esp compared to the smaller one. The smaller tom's legs are not much bigger than the two hens.

Lol, ok. I'm trying to think of a good question but I'm drawing a blank.
Me too! I finally just asked if you have new photos. Well, I know it's only been 5 days. But at least I got it back on top. Maybe one of the experts will notice it now. I find Facebook's layout and format to be hard to navigate. A lot of times when something gets bumped to the top, I don't look at it because it's too hard to go through all the comments again to find which one is new. That Turkey Genetics 101 is one of the very few things on FB I ever look at.
