I love my French Marans because even though they are slower growing, they make a very nice table bird, besides the eggs. DH prefers the Marans over the cream Legbars due to their duality and hardiness over Legbars.
I still get both kinds. Yay!

I don't marinate my birds... They taste fenominal without it.

I will not be crossing anything into the toads, at this time, unless they degrade genetically some how.

Chilly damp morning here and the turkeys are still like uhhh where's our exercise pen?

They're 9 weeks old today and I am pretty certain I have 2 tom and 4 hens. The 2 boys have thicker legs, red lumps growing on their necks, and bigger waddles. The females still have some fuzz on their heads and smaller legs/lack of bumps growing.

Got it. I figured they were a meat bird.

We hope to raise some meat birds ourselves, possibly next year if we get a hoop style run built for them.
