it’s head gets very red when it’s after food or excited about something.

That is strange about the food part.

He has almost iridescent coloring on almost all of his feathers. Has some on his wings and back and sides that are a lighter tan.

If the breast feathers are solid colored, the fact that there is a light colored strip on the bottom of the breast feathers is the sign of a hen turkey.

I don’t think there is really. He looks black. Almost solid black all over his body. Just the wings and side/back has a few that are lightening up to a brownish tan. Idk I hate to keep thinking about it but it’s frustrating me to not be able to tell for sure.

Ok. I might not even try and start this project until next spring, but...I'm getting ready.

I have this 19 foot long by 8 foot wide Shasta camper that I am currently using as a storage unit. I am thinking about converting it into my turkey house. I want to run hardware cloth up 8 foot high and make a square 20 or 25 feet from the ends of the camper to the front for their run. 25 feet x 20 feet would be approximately 500 square feet - which should be sufficient for the run area, correct?

The inside can be easily gutted to make their coop by removing the stove and most of the cabinets, giving me about an 8 x 12 coop. I think I may keep the sink since I can hook up a water hose to it. That will still leave me plenty of room, (approx a 7 x 8 area plus the bathroom) to store feed or whatever else I may need.

There are also numerous windows that can be covered with wire and shutters for ventilation, two vents in the ceiling, and (I believe) a 200 gal fresh water tank that I may be able to modify as a water source for waterers.

I can also put in a door for the turkeys right under the Shasta logo plate. (I may even name a turkey Shasta!)

Looking for opinions and suggestions.

Paul has been lokin for an old popup to modify for his new chicken tractor. We are goin in cahoots with a friend that raises angus beef for us to do him chickens when we do ours and he raises us a calf. It will be a few years before we are able put up fence so this works for us both. Love your idea!
