R2elk if she was to over load on Ivy or sumac or some nasty berry do you think there is any way they could come through the digestive track looking like that?

I am questioning them making it through the gizzard that whole.

If they have a reaction that causes the gizzard to spasm, anything can pass through whole. Mine have passed whole plum pits.

Agreed! I thought my turkey had found some fake decorative Christmas berries. And that's why I poked.

Annie is trying. Go figure I'd have a dog aggressive turkey hen. Their beaks are out of joint over this!

Tonight is the first night for my sweet Speckled Sussex in the coop with the bully hens. I think they would have rathered slept with the turkeys. But all is quiet. They seemed to settle down quickly.

My turkey pen is all but done. A window (or two) to put in and taking out a small divider that will give me (them) another 20 or so square feet of space.

They spent the night in there last night and I think they appreciate the flat board roost. lol

And it's cold outside. I hate cold. Oh yeah - I hate winter, too!!

Introducing dog 1 to the birds


Napping/cuddles are much better


The other dog has a super high prey drive and so his shock collar is on the charger. He's the main reason we can't have free-range anything. He was a rescue and used to be a bird dog sooo its hardwired in his not so smart brain that catching birds = good. Which is great for a hunting bird dog but not for a homestead. He's very one track minded and super dumb but we love him anyway.
