Ok...what are everyone's breeding plans this year? Ralph.... yuou going back to the calico flock? Aurora....what are you plans for Romeo & Cuddles? What colors will you get from the mottleds? Remember I'm living vicariously through y'all. No babies for my girls. I will say, my two turkeys were wonderful moms to those baby SS last summer. They were so sweet with them. The SS still follow the turkeys around & not the chickens. Kind of funny.

2 pens Bourbon reds.
1 pen of Narragansett with my lone palm in there.

No mix colors from my flocks. Just standards.

Still just have 1 bourbon laying. But I did double chicken egg production last night I got 2. Both of my ccl are laying.

Aurora....what are you plans for Romeo & Cuddles? What colors will you get from the mottleds?

Cuddles and Romeo, if they close top breed will produce mottled blacks and a small amount of royal palms I believe. I'm not sure exactly what else they would create with the rest of the flock but I'm hatching every turkey egg I can get!

I'm in the process of moving all the hens to the convent. Once there, I'll pull hens to the hotel and bring in a Tom and let them hang together for a week or so. Right now none of my girls are setting.
The one who is laying eggs kicked one of the teens butts the other day when he tried to have his way with her. I'm still trying to figure out how many girls of each breed I have. I don't want to accidentally put a boy in the convent.

I'm sticking to the same four... Black, RP, BR and narri... might do some red bronze again as everyone said they tasted great.

Nope, no blues this year. I am currently down to one tom (makes life much easier) and he is the Sweetgrass tom.

He will make Tri-Color Mottled Blacks and Tri-Color Mottled Slates with the Slate hens and he will make more Sweetgrass with the Royal Palm hens. The hens they produce will be pure Sweetgrass but the toms will be carrying a hidden Narragansett gene.
