A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

So my coondog is about to turn 9 months old. Young & dumb at this age. Yesterday evening he pushed past me into the yard with my loose turkeys. Started chasing Daisy. The good news was I was able to call him off. Took a minute, but he decided to give up the chase. I thought I was about to have a tragedy on my hands. Whew! And poor Daisy, she doesn't like dogs to begin with. But she shook out her feathers, marched up my back porch steps and cussed out the dog through the backdoor.

Sounds like what you are doing with them is good.
Your incubator should be in today and you ordered the genesis?
Yes it arrived. Since I’m getting 3-4 eggs a day and have 3 days saved I’ll see how many I have in a week. Probably next Wednesday since have it off of work.

Sooo my eggs I have awaiting the incubator I’ve been rotating them 1-2 times a day (sitting in a box with holes in it to keep them fat side up and I tip it at varying angles/sides) and have them in the coldest room of the house (stays around 58-62). Is this correct protocol? Gathering 10-12 days worth and not washing them.

I was going to answer this in a more timely manner, but because of Mother Nature hating me and deciding to re-instate global cooling as we slip into the eternal winter here in Minnesota...I got busy and forgot..

I would wash the eggs if they are headed to an incubator. The longer the poop and germs sit on the outside of the egg the more the chances of them contaminating the egg and destroying the hatch.

The egg shell is porous, anything that gets through the shell goes right into the embryo.

I wash them in 120 degree water and double dunk them in bleach asap..

Ralph...saw that's it's snowing up there. Also thought I saw another wave of snow heading your way this week. What the heck?

My folks said there is four inches of snow waiting for us when we get home. Starting back to the land of snow and sunshine today. I'll have to the east as we go through Portland tommorow polarberry!

Aww, poor Daisy!

It's just not right, seriously! We woke up to about 6 inches of fresh snow yesterday. It's all pretty much melted away already but it's still dreary, rainy and miserable right now. I'm half afraid to even look at the weather anymore. I want summer again!

I think the little short pudgy dictator in North Korea set off another nuke and we are having a nuclear winter up here...

I have almost 6 inches today on top of the foot Friday and the 4 inches Saturday.

We have snow in the forecast for Thursday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday ( week from tomorrow)...

I am refusing to plow snow...Which means I am going to be snowed in....I hope the WWD can get her broom in and out of the driveway.

Ok, funny how everything you read says don’t wash then some places say do wash... just so much conflicting advice!

I know when the birds hatch them naturally they have poop on them.
