A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

LOL I think all of us are well trained :lau

Lol! No joke! Feed me. Talk to me. Make sure my water is clean and cold multiple times a day. Treats human yes treats... the cold watermelon variety! And that swimmin pool looks a bit dirty and i cannot bear to put my pristine feets in one drop of dirt or poop in that water.... even though i did it. So clean it now right now. Every single time the queen douses sheselfs feets upon this wonderfully cool watery goodness......

Yes. Trained.

Sometimes I'm such a dunce (wide open target ralphie):th

I've been perplexed with my Tom's the last couple weeks... They have been leaving their assigned pasture (which they never do) and hanging out with the chickens... They've never had any desire to hang out with the chickens and barely tolerate the chickens who like to hang out with them. Sooo What's the deal???? I don't mind them being there as they keep aerial predators away, so win/win.

Tonight I finally figure it out... Two weeks ago, I relocated two of the Toms from their respective hotel suite back to the main pasture. The greenhouse contains the convent and hotel suites. When I got home from work today, they were making quite the racket, so went to go see what was up. They were in a single file line facing the greenhouse in full display gobbling away. Apparently the two boys returned to pasture, told the other boys where the girls were...

So my Toms still aren't particularly interested in hanging out with the chickens, they just want the girls returned to pasture.:lau:lau:gig:gig

Is there anyone on here who raises poults without a heat lamp?I recently just got two poults and it’s been super warm outside. The coldest it gets right now,is probably seventy maybe mid sixtys or high sixtys.Would they be fine staying in the coop without a heat lamp?I have two bo chicks with all their feathers who will be sleeping with them,so they could cuddle.

Was told they are about two weeks.

They look fully feathered to me... If the are you're ok. I keep mine in a brooder for 3 weeks, but this time of year, they don't go near the heat lamp after a couple of days. There are others way more experienced than I out here so keep looking...

Then you may be ok... Lots of folks brood out doors... I'm just not one of them. Maybe one of the others will chime in. Just remember the first 8 weeks are the most dangerous.. after that they become pretty much indestructible.
