A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Huh....thanks Molpet. That's interesting. Never heard of that. Cool.

It is an old wives tale. But most of the time it is true or at least round here it is. I remember my granny cuttin them open as a child and we always watched her face instead of the seed. Lol! Last year i got spoons also. You have use a persimmon from your area though.

Another few she said was... if there is a ring round the moon in winter there will be snow. And.... when you see the backs of the oak leaves turned up to the sky there will be rain for them to wash the cobwebs away.

Persimmon don't grow here so I've never heard of that either. Folk tales are interesting! Based on my birds molting a bit early, I'm guessing cold winter.

Persimmons grow here....but the squirrels ge th to them first. Same with the figs.

Sfgwife....how much rain are you getting??

It has been a steady rain all day long. We have three 250 gallon water tanks hooked up together... this mornin they were a tad less than half full and tonight they are full. :/. The winds are still pretty gusty at times as well. Brother is in wilmington and gah the pics he is sendin... he is a paramedic and had stay. They have been usin helicopters to go out to people. There is not a way to get into there anymore from amy roadway. Everything is so flooded and washed out.

The squirrels aren’t so bad on my persimmons. It is the deer here lol! But i still got plenty last year sharin with them.

Eta... it is pourin the rain down now. Yuck! When it rains like this here i always thank the heavens that our home is built a good bit away from the creek and atop a hill. But it still is scary because rivers have t crested here yet. Tomorrow is supposed be like this as well.

Hi Everyone! I want to try something new.... breed turkeys out of season. WOuld like to know how to bring hen and tom into breeding mode this late in the season. Like how many hours of lighting, or change in food, etc.
THank you.
