A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Hate freezing rain. The worse! Glad you got out Black Friday Aurora! Spent time tidying the coops. Birds enjoying the weather. Got a call from some friends in north Mississippi . Since it's so nice we are going to run the coonhounds tonight. It will be good weather for that too. Not too hot for the dogs, not too cold for me. Going to enjoy while I can. Getting cold later in the week.

Did you guys have fun running the dogs? I go out black Friday shopping every year with my friend that I used to work with. It's the only day of the year we manage get together and we stay out all night. We meet around 10pm on Thanksgiving and go till we drop. This year, that was about 9am lol. I'm not a big shopper but I do love black Friday!

I helped Mister breed Lil this morning.... That bird is CLUMSY! I THINK it was successful but I can't be positive. Lil was not thrilled with the encounter but Mister kept following me around after that lol. Hopefully, I'll get some really cool penciled babies!

I remember you talking about Black Friday shopping with your friend before. What fun! Hope you got some good bargains! It wasnt too crowded or crazy around here. Makes me wonder how many folks are shopping on line instead.
Had a laugh about you, Mister & Lil! Poor guy!

Alicia...are your girls laying consistently now? I know Aurora got a few eggs already. Anybody else getting eggs? I noticed my girls are looking a bit pinker in the waddles but I dont think they are close.

my girl that hatched jan 1 2018 is still laying.... she started at 6 months old and has been consistent since! I did turn the lights on the turkeys hoping that they will "get in gear" as I am hoping to hatch early Jan and feb for my daughters 4-h Project.

I have been sort of under the weather...The price I pay for having 5 rug rat aged grandkids..They visit and bring every virus known to mankind with them.

The Reigning Wicked Witch of the north took pity on me and opened the doors to the coop this morning. I went out at about noon. I was walking out and I heard the dog running up behind me and then start following me. I kind of smiled as to how animals become attached to people...

I turned to pet the dog and saw no dog..

I had a whole flock of turkeys right behind me following me everywhere I went. The leaders, of course, were my two oldest toms. They truly are feathered dogs.

Lately, I have been thinking of them as feathered goats. They are getting into everything in the coop. I had bird netting in 5 gallon buckets. They daily pull it out and lay it on the floor. So far they have caught 2 chickens and a cat in their net. BTW My cats are not tame. I had to get heavy leather gloves and a scissors to cut the cat out and still ended up with a few cuts and scratches...The turkeys thought that was real funny.

I stack my rolled hardware cloth up and they knock it down. I have garbage cans they tip over. I may have to move them to an area with no toys for them to play with.

I hope you feel better Ralph. I'm in the same situation today, down and out, except I think my issue was food poisoning :/ Hubby and the kids too care of the feathered folk all day for me so hopefully, everyone survived lol. I've been stuck the bed, bathroom, and recliner in the living room all day.

In other news, I got 3 eggs from the turkeys today! I've got about 7 so far waiting for the incubator
