A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ha
I know you have had your share of belly buttons.
The 2 I have now have been off turkey feed since the co op closed the feed division last fall. They have been fine.... not related to the belly buttons... some birds must need the nutrients in greater quantities
I think some birds are just better suited for the oven than the coop.

Well, if you want to make a trip west instead of east, once my turkeys start laying I'll have poults for sale too. I just realized that 5 of us are neighbors, two in the Dakotas, I'm in Montana, Ralphie in Minnesota, and r2elk in Wyoming. Perhaps one day there could be a turkey people gathering....

If I have the money when this meeting happens, I'll fly out to join in lol

I am looking at all my eggs..

It will take us all year to eat all these turkey eggs. People around here are so citified they think there is something wrong with turkey egg omelet..

I have one dozen going to someone this weekend for hatching.. it is too early to let a hen have the eggs. They will freeze. It was below zero last night.

I have a dozen or so chickens leaving tomorrow... but no takers on the turkeys.. (except the guy that offered me 20 bucks for one)... I will eat the hen before I sell it at that price.

It is free, just pay for a fraction of the food it has eaten!

Responder: “What? I have to feed it too? I thought they just ate, like, bugs and leftovers and stuff. You should be paying me to take it off your hands! Hey, you’re going to send him off with what’s left of his food, aren’t you? I mean, you don’t need it anymore, right?”

Hey, maybe you ought to make it harder to buy a turkey... Someone calls about the turkey, you go right into the spiel:

“Hey there, Thanks for calling. You’re gonna love being a turkey parent—if you qualify (I’m sure you will!)

“First thing, we’ve got to get you an application, you’ll need three unrelated character references... I’ll need to see the facilities where Thomas will be housed. There will be a test, but don’t worry. If you just study the 45 page booklet, you’ll do fine... oh yes, a couple more things...

“Owning a turkey is a great honor and also a serious responsibility. Once you’ve read the booklet (only $5.99), I want you to give this next step in your life some real reflexion. Not everyone is in the right time of their lives for adopting a turkey and that’s nothing to be ashamed of... we all have our journeys to make. Study hard, take some time for meditation, fill out the app & send me a copy of your Amazon receipt for the book. Give me a call when you’re ready for the test and we’ll set up a date for me to tour Thomas’ new living space...”
