A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Some of my early chicken eggs were pretty fragile.

Could first turkey eggs be fragile until the hen gets things sorted out?

I do get some very pointy chicken eggs (the little bitty ones that I suppose are laid by relatively new layers) but the turkey eggs I’ve seen here all seem very pointed... no spots on KetoJen’s possible turkey eggs, though, so that’s a consideration... I don’t know (obviously). Just tossing the question out there.

The shell on turkey eggs may or may not be tougher than chicken eggs but the membrane is much tougher.

It's been a long while since I poked my head in here; good to see the thread is alive and kicking! Hope everyone has had a good month so far.

Does anyone know where I can purchase some breeding saddles for BR hens? I don't currently have the time to make my own, and the poor girls have been getting sliced up.

Ho boy did you pick the right place to ask! We have a resident seamstress who sells saddles in sizes ranging from quail to bb white turkey!

@Auroradream26 ..... she can fit any bird you have! Does a wonderful job!

Took the girls for a stroll tonight. Waited until the fighting was done. They behaved themselves. Ate a ton of stuff. Annie's swelling is down but she's all scabbed up. Daisy isn't too bad. My friends sweetgrass hatched. She wants me to come see them. I can't! I do not trust myself. Maybe in a few years as my girls age....but not now. Maybe a tom will cut down on their fighting? Hmmm....may be an excuse for a third bird!
