A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I'm spending a lot of time watching them. At first I couldn't figure out what the heck she was doing with her tail. The mottled doesn't flair its tail. Nor does it display....actually doesn't do anything with its tail.
It may be a sign it is a male or it may be a sign that it is relaxed and not concerned about its surroundings. The horizontal tail flare is danger reaction. Adult hens will flare their tails horizontally to provide cover for their poults in times of danger especially when the perceived danger is from above.

I misspoke....they are on Turkey starter....

A Dalmatian toad? Wow! How cool is that? I've seen them with some red. Is this one different?

Ok, ok....will be trying for pics later today. The ones of them loose in the crate usually end up with their heads through the bars & all ya get are little turkey butts!

Cute meat mutt!

Yeah...the adult girls will flare. Always for a good reason.

They are only 5-6 weeks old....but I'm "feeling" like the penciled is a hen & the mottled a dreaded tom! We'll see...these are my early predictions! From someone who's never raised poults! LOL

It did freeze here. The potato plants got touched a little but it looks like everything is okay.

It has finally been dry enough today and cool enough that I have gotten a little of my mowing done. I am so far behind that it isn't funny. A visitor asked yesterday if I was going to mow or just let it all grow.

Hay for winter bedding? :lau

It froze even worse last night. The water sprinkler method has the tomato plants looking fine even though they were encased in ice this morning.

The potato plants look bad. The eggplants got touched pretty good and the Big Moose pumpkin plants got hit pretty hard.

This just isn't right for June 10th.
