A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

My turkeys were terrified and upset over the pile of corn the DH had dumped in the run before letting them out this morning (i hurt my shoulder so he was doing all the lifting for me). They were circling it and baking at it until one brave one decided to Peck at it. Then they were all good. They ate that before their feed lol

Heat & humidity is back. Blah. We had a nice break. I can gauge the humidity level based on Daisy's fan use. The worse it gets, the longer she lingers. She even developed a dust bath hole in front of one. Its getting deep enough that all you can see is a beak & tail sticking out. She's a creature of comfort!

Hmmm...I'm still trying to figure out sexes. Looking for any little sign. I just need to be patient. I guess....
Coonhound went out early this morning. Unfortunately he treed some something way in the back. Ran out to get him. Noticed several lights popping on in surrounding houses. Whoops. Poor neighbors. House aren't close. And this time of year they are hymedically sealed. But boy his voice travels. Tried spotting what he had with no success. Got him in the house & he was all jazzed up. He's big & loud, but really like this dog. I'm considering him my mid life crisis.
One of my favorite dogs ever was a Treeing Walker Coonhound. I went to the local pound to adopt a dog, and she was there labeled as foxhound mix. Two weeks after I brought her home her AKC registration showed up in the mail. I absolutely loved that dog. I'm sure every single one of my neighbors hated her, but I found her fascinating. Icould get her to tree just about anything I wanted, including nothing at all. When she would get to baying and chopping, I'd just sit and listen to her. She was 46 lb, but she was one of the strongest dogs I've ever dealt with. Using athletic as a description, doesn't even come close to her capabilities. Sadly she's no longer with us, but one of these days, I'll have another.
