A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I'm feeling good like I'm getting somewhere but the scale keeps harassing me saying, no you're not! It's frustrating
Ignore the scale. It will show up in other ways much quicker than on the scale. Besides muscle mass weighs more than fat mass.

Ok....I'm bragging on my teenage ninja turkey girls! Yes they will take flight whenever they get startled. But they are learning all the crazy noises associated with city living. But the fun thing is that they are following me around now. And talk, talk, talk. Oh boy are they chatty! I got my blower out....geez....they flew in any direction they could. No one flew over a fence....that was a good thing. Ran into my baker friend. Told her I now had four hens. She gave me a big hug! She wants pictures of them to post in her shop so her clients can see who is contributing to the baked goods. I think that's a brilliant idea. I also found out she bakes by "weight". She'll wisk eggs together some eggs and weights out what she needs for each recipe. I was wondering how she compensated for the turkey eggs being larger.

My first set of turkey eggs are due in 10 days. I candled them last night and all 5 are dancing around in there! I have about 10 more eggs to set today. I think 2 of the younger girls are laying now. I still don't know who but they're laying them wherever they pop out. I did see one of the younger, semi penciled ladies helping herself to the oyster shell. I'm curious to see how these babies turn out!

Younguns!!!

when I was a kid we walked 3 miles uphill both ways to school in 40 below temps and never missed a day.
After the milking and checked the ol’ trap line on the way, right? (That was my dad, anyway. I just fixed myself some microwave oatmeal, hopped in my Mustang, and the worst thing I had to look forward to was trying to find a parking spot nearer to the school than our house (15-20 miles away—Dad would’ve walked... uphill, of course—in flat Kansas.))*

*Actually he wasn’t much of an exaggerator. I think he was telling me straight. (I was/am so spoiled.)

Sunny and -8°F this morning. Temporarily there is no wind.
I believe our record so far is -5, R2... you’ve got me beat there. :p This, however does not distress me. I am sorry for your miserable weather but not envious of the braggin’ rights. ;) Today is looking fairly decent.

Hope everyone one east survives the weather! It was nasty here....lots of wind damage.

Let the hound out around 4 for his morning constitutional. Poured my coffee, got his breakfast ready, turned on the early news....and then....from the depths of the yard I hear that gravely bay then his "I ain't kidding" chopping bark. Yep....to the neighbors delight...hes on a tree! Nighty, slippers, flashlight & leash....finally dragged him to the house. Ran out the door so quick I forgot we had a cold front overnight & it was only 33. He ate, burped & is now curled up asleep with a smile on his face & I'm still trying to warm up. Sigh.....
What? 33 degrees is a warm... WARM front. What’re you thinkin’, Memphis?

DH and I have been going to the gym most days for the past 2 weeks and my mom has talked me in to doing a yoga thing with her everyday. I'm feeling good like I'm getting somewhere but the scale keeps harassing me saying, no you're not! It's frustrating
That’s ‘cause you’re making muscles.. you know that, right? Muscle weighs more. LOTS.
