A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

UGGG! Rain & dropping temps. We may even have a few SNOW flurries next week. Guess the party is over. Cold wet weather & shorter days....just not my favorite time of year.

Guess I need to dig out the girls neck & leg warmers.

It's rainy and yucky here today too with 1-3 inches of white fluffy stuff expected tonight :/ YUCK!

I've been working on my massive stack of saddles. It never bothered me before but I think my least favorite part of making these is the ironing. I don't think it was a pain before because I never made this many at one time lol. I have to use a ruler to push the seams the whole way out before I iron them down or I get these weird little folds around the edges. I tend to be OCD about it lol

Getting them to leave the coop? Geez....mine stand at the door waiting to be let out. Then they spend at least 10 minutes talking about it & flapping around. Then they will follow me around just to see what I'm doing. They sure like to check everything out. Nosey goobers!

Now we are going to set record lows. We actually have a wind chill. At least the rain stopped. We may have snow flurries on Tuesday. More crazy weather.

Left the gate open when I went to get the trash can. Wanted to see if the teenagers would follow Daisy & I down the driveway. They stood in the gate & watched us. They looked like the three stooges! Didn't step outside the gate, but were awfully curious. They were sure talking about it! When we got back we got a flapping & yapping greeting. Teenagers are so funny.

Looks like I'll be cutting my flocks back and butchering an extra tom. I have 3 roos separated to be processed so far, probably tomorrow and I'll be going through the flock and seeing where else I can cut back. DH just got laid off. I haven't worked in like 7 years (minus a couple months last summer) but I'm on the hunt for something now. Hopefully....
Guess it's a good time to ramp up on the saddles. I still want a couple, but guess mine still have some growing to do. ;/

:hugs

I'm working on it. I spent the past two days ironing. I have about 125 assorted sizes all ironed up and ready to be finished sewing up. I'll probably have the majority of them done by the end of the weekend. Then I think I'm going to experiment with the safety orange turkey saddles for a while.

LOL - the orange ones would make mine stand out like a sore thumb! Which is a very good thing since I do NOT trust the people around me. Funny that I live in a pretty rural area but have neighbors on 3 sides (2 close and 1 about a half a mile) along with a real jerk ass at the bottom of the hill.

Wonder if I should start the two girls "young"? hmmmmm.

Edited to add that the next closest neighbor is a mile one way and in the other direction - 3 miles. Works for me!
