I'm afraid mine is gonna decide to counter surf pretty soon.
I am learning to Never underestimate how far a hound can reach to get something!

He would not need to hook his paws if he just realized he can jump right over it. My beagle could go over any chainlink fence. She would just climb them. The only problem was getting down the other side if the fence was too high.

I used to have a boxer that would hook his front legs over an 8 ft privacy fence and pull himself over. Used to scare the crap out of my neighbor.

And they have a tremendous reach with those front legs.
R2elk....remember when Uno the beagle won at Westminster? Friend of mine bred/owned him. Illinois bred dog. Hunted too! Boy was he a nice guy! I really like beagles. But they are barky. There are 2 sizes....13 inch & 15 inch. The 13 inch are too cute. They look like little stuffed toys as babies.

Went out to put the girls to bed last night & the three goofballs were standing at 5he garage eyeballing it. Ha! Caught them just in time! There is a wood bench along the path by the garage. Iris & Marigold started toward the coop. Blossom hopped on the bench & gave me side eye. Just had to sit next to her & give her a good pet. She's really turning into a sweetie. She had to tell me all about her day too. She hasn't jumped into my lap yet....but shes getting close. She'll lean on me. Shes getting there!! Iris & Marigold are friendly too....but Blossom is really blatant about demanding attention. Just love me a turkey hen!!!

I miss having a dog and those little quirks. My Siberian husky, Dreamy, was an expert escape artist. She could never be trusted anywhere without a tight leash lol. Rocky was the climber. He was a terrier mix and he knew that if we walked outside, he had time to jump up on the table and search for anything left behind. It was hilarious and frustrating to look back in through the window to see him standing in the middle of the table lol.

Dogs have been a big part of my life. I'd feel odd without one!

I'm getting to the point that I'd feel weird without a turkey lapper! Gardening is a solo activity for me, and now I'm used to the girls being a part of that. Or just taking them for their evening stroll, or just chilling out with Daisy asleep in my lap. All goofy little things....but would sure miss them....

And now they sell Pocket Beagles. The real problem with a Beagle is if you take your eyes off of it, it is gone with its nose on a scent.

Memphis she sounds so cute I love their side eye! Belle has started coming closer and following me she’ll side eye me and talk a lot prob telling me I’m weird and scary lol.
So morning update I spotted a cinderblock buried in the brush and once I start something I have to finish so I was out there in the pouring rain on a cinderblock treasure hunt.
She’s checking it out at least lol. I also found this board is this too flat for them to want to roost on? It’s only about 2 in thick at most. But I try to use things I randomly pull out of our woods as much as I can lol.

Sit in a chair and toss a few BOSS toward her. She'll come closer & closer to get treats. Do not make a move toward her....earn her trust. She should eventually take a seed from your hand. Just take it slow. Blossom was very standoffish. But now she wants pets & hugs without being bribed by treats.
