A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Memphis she sounds so cute I love their side eye! Belle has started coming closer and following me she’ll side eye me and talk a lot  prob telling me I’m weird and scary lol.
So morning update I spotted a cinderblock buried in the brush and once I start something I have to finish so I was out there in the pouring rain on a cinderblock treasure hunt.
She’s checking it out at least lol. I also found this board is this too flat for them to want to roost on? It’s only about 2 in thick at most. But I try to use things I randomly pull out of our woods as much as I can lol.

It should be fine. I believe my roosts are 2" x 6"

Is the board fastened on top somehow? If it’s just laying there they’ll eventually knock it off. If you can put it through the cinderblocks’ holes, that would secure it.
Ya it’s not through because the holes aren’t big enough in one cinderblock but hopefully I can find another one with bigger holes to match. But it’s actually an extra fence post so it’s pretty heavy even tho they aren’t using it at all :hit.

Belle....look at her checking it out!!

Sit in a chair and toss a few BOSS toward her. She'll come closer & closer to get treats. Do not make a move toward her....earn her trust. She should eventually take a seed from your hand. Just take it slow. Blossom was very standoffish. But now she wants pets & hugs without being bribed by treats.
Wow really she was standoffish?! Thank you for the advice Urgh it’s so hard to be patient I just want her to jump into my arms haha. The only super friendly one honestly is my chicken Marjorie she didn’t need any coaxing she’s always been all up in my business lol and I got her full grown. Also what’s “BOSS” sorry I’m new lol

A little cow? Would love to see a pic.

Philly....it takes patience & time to earn a turkeys trust. Especially an older bird. Remember mine have Daisy as an example. They see her in my lap all the time. Aurora has a really friendly flock. I think hers are born lappers!!

Christmas is just around the corner. Can't believe it. Are y'all ready? I guess I am. Luckily my friends & I tend to get together for dinner or lunch. We banned presents years ago. None of us need the little chotskies. We have to much junk as it is! But spending time together is precious. So in Memphis is several rounds of lunches & dinners. Most of my friends are becoming grandparents. They are sure enjoying the little kids at Christmas. I have two nephews. A CPA & a scientist. Both in their late 20's. Sure was easier spoiling them at Christmas when they were kids. These days....its hard figuring out what to do for young professionals. I got them hockey tickets. They are big fans. Picked out a game for each one....four tickets each so they can take friends. Ordered them on line. Ordered a few things for my sister & brother in-law. So my shopping concluded over a month ago. Never stepped into a store. I rather miss the hustle & bustle of Christmas shopping...NOT!! I'm down to baking. I'm in charge of deserts. I make a famous tiramisu. Seriously....it will make you slap your momma. Never any left. And if there is my sister & I grab a few spoons, sit on the couch & finish it off. Our little Christmas tradition. And I'll do an apple crisp. One fun thing is that we decided to do a pretty casual & easy Christmas meal. I actually bring Memphis bbq up to St. Louis. We add tater tots & mac & cheese. Plus a few other things. It's so easy & the guys love the bbq. By the time Christmas hits, both my sister & I are "fooded-out". So easy is our gig. Y'all have any fun Christmas traditions?

On Christmas Eve, we always go to church. My uncle (my dad's side) always throws a big Christmas party so we usually head over there right after church and stay for a couple hours. We don't see that side of the family as often so it's always nice to catch up with Everyone. My uncle takes pride in making sure that the refrigerators and coolers are overflowing with beer And that there's quite the variety of liqueurs lined up on the Counter, along with all the food of course. On Christmas day, Everyone usually ends up at my parents' house in the early afternoon. By everyone, I mean my mom's entire site of the family. Her two sisters, their families, kids, and grandkids. Everyone brings a few dishes of food and desserts (they have a meeting over tea in advance to plan who brings what). After we're all stuffed beyond the ability to move, the alcohol starts flowing, mostly among the men but the ladies usually have Wine or wine coolers. The kids get presents from everyone and we usually have a random box of presents for everyone from my uncle, sent from whatever country he happens to be in at the time. Then we sing happy birthday to my cousin who was born on Christmas day and we all eat ice cream cake. Everyone hangs out till pretty late before loading up their cars with presents and leftovers and heading home.
