A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Been 3 years since my turkey (Toe) past. I haven't wanted to have turkeys after his passing until this year. 7 Bourbon Reds the only breed I have known in raising and I love how property guardy they are, terrors openly roaming my property to strangers trying to steal from us. I would keep a pack of 7 BR's just for that reason because Turkeys can't get in trouble attacking people like dogs could (by pass the legal mess right) New breed for me 7 Royal Palms, not everyone needs a huge turkey for eating and wanted to try them out for that reason and maybe maybe 1 Narragansett in the order. I would of done more but that was all that was left. Not sure I will be getting one, but again wanting to see the difference's in the and managing their size.

Toe was exceptional loyal to a fault and cuddly. It may have been him being so accident prone from a baby and all the hands on care that created him to that personal level or Toe was just meant to be a special individual. He out lived 3 buddy turkeys I set aside after butching the rest of the flocks after him. None of them were the same as Toe but they bonded with Toe and kept him safe from the other newer turkeys . miss you Toe... <3

Incubator mishap. Two poults hatched without feet😭
I think the temp sensor was touching a tray and there was a spike? I adjusted so hopefully there are no more problems. The poults are otherwise normal but their feet... One has rudimentary nubby feet, the other only has thighs and nothing below that... I'm going to have to cull but I feel pretty bad.
Ackkk guy that got some eggs from me last year had one hatch, and it had no feet. He thought it was his incubator too

Back to Head Cheese....oh boy! Jerry, to Ralphies & make head cheese with him! Sounds like a fun time!

Here's a question...how long does it take one kid to turn into six? About 10 minutes when they see Daisy out grazing. Poor girl was standing at the gate. Decided to take her out front. The three stooges followed us. One little girl spied Daisy & here she came! Calling to her brother, who informed another little group of kids. The stooges scooted back to the backyard. Daisy was in 7th Heaven! She sat there getting pets & hugs. And they were picking weeds for her. That was one very happy turkey hen!! I swear she was smiling! Kids were all in a circle around her. Didn't have my phone, it would have been a cute picture. Honestly, she need some kid therapy.
