I know she is a girl because of what she is saying (hen speak, not tom speak) and the shape of her head along with the overall feminine look she has. She specifically keeps saying: "I want memphis."

Word must be out regarding the entitled city girls. How am I going to get her?? So I've only had one talker at a time. If I had two....would they talk to each other? My girls are pretty quiet...especially Daisy. Then there is Blossom! Boy she's a talker! She's starting to talk to strangers on our walks!

I dunno but you are way overdue for a visit. I have started moving the tomato plants to the garden. I have Goliath Giants that are already 2 1/8" in diameter. My Gold Nugget died but it is still loaded with tomatoes that are turning ripe. I even have a head of cabbage that is big enough to pick.

Ok!! I was just wondering because ya'll have such a great relationship with each other!! I hate to barge into a "friends only" chat lol.

I just recently acquired some poults. Kids begged. Husband gave the pouty face and here I am caring for 3 poults without having done my proper OCD research!!! Dang it!!! lol

Anywho, I have a BB white turkey poult and after realizing that's what I got and that we would have to eat it (yikes) I ended up purchasing 2 more poults that are Royal palms, the same age as the white. They are about 3 weeks old now. So really I have a few different things I wanted to ask about. The cleaning... they seem to poop all over each other... They are in a farely small brooder at the moment and I'm hoping to switch out some chicks that are heading out to the coop in a week or so and I'll be moving the turks into a way bigger area. But in the meantime, how do I keep them clean?? I have them on pine flakes. I clean the bedding out multiple times a week. They have a smaller feeder, but they don't eat a whole lot. Which leads me to my next issue.

I do have them on game bird starter after I realized that a flock raiser wasn't enough. I had the BB white with baby chicks for a few days (again pre-research) so he learned to eat and drink farely well. The royal palms came from a breeder a few days after the white but she said they knew how to eat and drink from feeders just fine. Should I be monitoring their weight somehow? Just to make sure they are getting enough? I see each of them eat and drink so I know they are its just is it enough?

And does their little nub on the face tell you the sex of the poult? Just guessing lol.

You can buy chick (or other) grit from Amazon (Prime, even) in up to 50lb bags. Weird but true (assuming they're not all out, too.) You can also sift driveway gravel. Chick grit is like little flakes--sand will do, too, but I think coarser might be better.

If a person has big ant hills, they have great chick sized grit.

LOL yall are funny.

I'm waiting for my chick grit to come in. So I will be adding that asap. Also, they are eating for sure I've noticed a drop in their food bucket today when I got home from work. And #3 - they got into a little bit bigger brooder tonight when I got home!! They'll be here for just under a week (hopefully) and then they will move to the biggest brooder aka a very large dog kennel lol. Also, they haven't been on heat for a few days ONLY because it's been in the 80's-90's here and they are in our insulated garage. I do have a lamp on their brooder in case temps do drop by chance and I can flip that on. I monitor with a thermometer in their brooder. That photo of them laying on each other was night one here at the house.

I do have a question about the BB white turkey. I have noticed he is very large compared to the Royals. But I also noticed his leg joints look almost inflamed? Maybe swollen compared to theirs? He also kind of loses his balance a little when walking. Not a lot but after I was loving on him and then I put him in the new brooder, he seemed a little off kilter. It was weird. But he's walking around fine right now... I don't even know how to explain it... But I do know that I've read about their legs/joints not being able to hold them well when they get older. Didn't think it would happen so soon. He is on game bird feed. He was on flock raiser for a few days before I figured out that it wasn't enough for him and then I switched him over a week ago. Could I have done damage to him with being on the raiser?? .. Im not sure what the feed store had them on. Also, I've read different info about raising them "with" chickens. At what age are they able to be with our baby chicks. No one is laying yet. I have 8 week olds in the hen house, 5 week olds in the big brooder. And 2-3 week olds in the smaller brooder. I didn't know about the imprinting part of everything so they've been. separated from our babies since day two.

Yes your BB is starting to develop perosis. You already figured out the cause. You can help by adding vitamin B complex at the ratio of 1/2 of a tablet or capsule dissolved in one gallon of water. Make it the only source of water and give it to all of the poults. It should be made fresh daily.
