This Merlin hanging in the hay barn. Pretty Girl was stalking it jumping from rafter to rafter. The scene below was pandemonium as all the turkeys made a huge racket. I'm sure they would have eaten it if they caught it. I like the merlin because it catches thieving chickadees.
I had a Merlin in November with a Collared Dove as big as it.
Don't see Merlin's mainly Kestrel's around here love seeing them hovering.

Ya, I have been seeing a bald eagle flying over the last few years they must be nesting somewhere not too far away. There is many now nesting out around the marshes and edges of Lake Erie.
It was a big deal to see one sitting on the high power line next to me a decade ago.... At first I just seen yearlings and thought they were giant brown hawks lol.
Now the darn juveniles sit in trees in the poultry yard. The turkeys gather underneath yelling until I chase it off.

You are a hoot!🤠🤠

You have NO idea lol

I think I finally got a tri colored mottled lavender, guys! I'm not spotting any dark spots on her, what do you all think?

Very pretty! She looks lavender to me :)

I don't see many of the smaller hawks. Mainly Red tails and similar size...a few eagles.

Same here though I've seen a few Cooper's Hawks and Sharp Shinned Hawks

Appears to be a Dilute Red Slate (Blue Narragansett).
Was wondering if she might carry Narraganset, as it is definitely in my flock (hello, Rosabelle, my 10 year old royal palm momma). There is a good chance a large chunk of my flock is descended from her in one way or another, she has always been an amazing broody.

I've seen a few Cooper's Hawks
I have a pair of coopers hawks that 3 and 4 years ago nested in my pines and raised their young here. Then for the last 2 years a pair of crows took over nesting here and keeps the coopers away from the farm for the most part. But they didn't go far just moved across the street into the cemetery for nesting, and still try hunting and teaching their young to prey on the small birds here on the farm and bird feeders. But the crows do a good job of keeping them away always harassing/chasing them off.
