Big hopes for these guys. DV situation led to me having to permanently part with most of my birds for their safety- I’ve got two adult turkeys hens left a friend held, 6 poults they gifted me to restart with.
The two hens are still laying very well, which is surprising given they’ve been shuffled back and forth like 3 times now in 2 months. No toms at all anymore, so just cooking their eggs. Turkey eggs make for pretty good brownies, I’ve found. Very fudgy in comparison to chicken eggs.

Hey everyone! It's been a long time since I've been on. I how everyone's been doing well! I have decided to dramatically cut back my flocks. I'm down to 7 turkeys (Romeo, Rusty, Baby, Lil, Cynthia, Nibbles, and Old Miss Sweet Pea), 16 chickens (3 of which are blind roos that will end up in the freezer if they can't find a good home), 2 geese and 1 duck. I just sold off my quail flock yesterday and all my chicken breeding groups this spring. I just have a cute bantam mutt roo ruling over my aging hens that I kept. I'm even working through the rest of my fabrics to make whatever hen saddles I can, then I'm going to close up my Etsy shop. My husband is tired of having animals and I'm tired of sewing all the time so it is what it is. I'm sure I'll pop in and say hi every now and then though :)

I'm doing fine. I can understand wanting to cut back. Glad your keeping some. :hugs
Thanks for letting us know about the etsy closing. I will quit sending people your way . But I just put on an order, no hurry. Just stocking up before you close.

Lol, thanks for ordering! You can keep sending them if you want for now. I don't have a lot in stock right now but I haven't had a lot of time to work on them lately. I'm guessing I'm going to be open at least another year based on the amount of fabric I still have. I'm going to use it all up and then close. I'll be working hard this winter during my layoff to try to get them all put together and listed. There's no point closing with at least a hundred yards of fabric that I'll never use laying around lol

Here is our new employee! He will probably be as spoilt as the old one. He will still live outside, but since he's only 8 weeks, we are starting slow with introductions. He's bonded to our other dog, Apollo, as interim guardian. Apollo may not be a proper livestock guardian, but he's an alright trainer in regards to the goats, since he absolutely adores all baby animals. I'm making Apollo sleep with the puppy because we live too close to a poor neighborhood and such a puppy would be a target for thieves as his age and size. During the day, the puppy is slowly integrating with daily activities and meeting all his charges. Eventually, I'll pen him with some pretty easy going goats. Morgan is really the only boss goat I worry about, she's not afraid of dogs and will butt them into next week given a chance. We are working on a name.

He is adorable!! So far I love my Anatolian/Kangal mixes so if he is anything like them, you will too. When mine accidentally get out they stay close to home and don’t wander like a Pyrenees. Mine are definitely not less barky though but they bark with purpose. They are fierce protectors and can’t stand anything that even resembles a varmint, including cats and my golden doodle unfortunately. But at such a tender age and barely being one year old they are already a force to be reckoned with and very large dogs. Laurel isn’t fully reliable with poultry yet as she kills chickens and pulls out turkey tails when unsupervised, but Naomi is a top notch guardian and is 100% unsupervised with goats and poultry now. Congratulations on your new employee! They are well worth the investment and time it takes to train.

Imagine it’s really hard for you to give up those animals that’s what I look forward to every day I come home from work is to sit with my birds
