My oldest showed at the fair this year for turkeys. She always brings the most turkeys to the fair every year, and every year, the poultry coordinators roll their eyes at her. She is definitely a turkey girl. We did get some complements on the legbars, too!

Sooooo... my turkey hen disappeared back in May, I thought a coyote got her. She finally came back with TEN poults! The poults are 2-3 months old already. How did they manage to survive in the wild and hide for so long?

Not sure what to do. They are still roosting in the wild but come back for food. How much space would I need if I wanted to contain them? The poults are probably half wild, so that makes things complicated.

Been awhile, some update photos!



Griffon is about 6 and still going strong. Still my handsome baby boy.


Budgie earlier this summer suddenly came down with wry neck. Took her to the vet and they gave us homeopathic stuff that didn't work at all. We were tube feeding her and it had been about a month and a half and I was about to give up. I finally decided to try one last ditch effort: Enrofloxacin. It worked. She's back to normal now. Here's a photo when she was at the vet.

Rosabelle died today. She had been going downhill, but we thought she was making a recovery. Apparently, the other hens in with her started to attack her. They killed and ate her, so my oldest is rather sad today. Rosabelle was 11 years old, so she had been with us for a long time, as far as birds go.
