New chicks day two. I'm "teaching" them to eat. Mama hen is not doing it because I slipped 5 fertile eggs under her, so she is still not leaving the nest. The chicks are wandering a bit. I sat with them this morning, showed them the food and tapped the food with my finger. They assumed that they should peck there, and rightly so. They are eating! I'm supposed to get my incubator tomorrow. If she decides to abandon these new eggs (which if I were her I would!) I'll put them in the incubator. Mama Maggie is eating from a little Tupperware bowl. I gave her some greens this morning and I'm giving her the 24% chick food as well. Everyone seems happy right now. Water is a step away from the nesting box as well.
