A complete newb here!

Welcome to BYC!

Ok, firstly, you need to get chick feed, corn, rice and whatever (especially oatmeal) won't have all the nutrients they need.
Don't use newspaper for the ground, it's too slick, and it can cause leg issues. I use puppy pads, or paper towel.
If they are getting messy on their bums, they might be too hot, you want to raise their heat lamp.
The dye should wear off as they loose their baby fluff.

Hello, Cathy, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You need to source chick starter with 18-20% protein. You also need to find chick grit. The little one with the limp leg and enlarged crop may be backed up because of the food you've offered them to date. Try giving her about 1/2
tsp chilled coconut oil twice a day with lots of fresh water available at all times and see if her crop goes down by morning.
Getting some poultry vitamins works Shay be a good idea to add to one waterer with another full of fresh water.

Firstly, welcome to the forum! :frow

Second... who in the world would gift you chicks to raise into very loud and messy flatmates if you're not able to bring them outside? You're in for quite the cleaning job in the future! Diet is hugely important at a young age, and if your able, you may want to switch them to an easily digested chick crumble with all the nutrients a growing baby needs... if not, be absolutely sure that you provide grit for digestive purposes! Yes, the dye job will absolutely grow out. Will your neighbors be okay with crowing roosters, should there be a little boy in the mix?
