No, the voices voted against the previous president and administration. The voices didn't care who they voted for, they just voted them all out - and now they're realizing what a mistake they've made. The People don't want socialism, they don't want big huge mommy state government, they just hated Bush and his team. So now they can try to make the current crop of idiots in Washington listen to them - so far they're being pretty successful. Obama doesn't have a mandate, he's got a mess, and I'm afraid he's ill-equipped to deal with it. He thought everyone was for him, but he was wrong.

Going to be hard to buy that when he is re-elected.

He hasn't a prayer's chance in h@*!

I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it, but for NOW the topic is not his reelection or Bill Clinton's reelection after he ran on health care reform and failed cause the people did not want it.

Ok, so I have no insurance - my husband and I both go to the doctors every six months - doctors visit costs us around 50 bucks, so roughly 200 a year total on doctor office visits.

Prescriptions at Walmarts - 10 bucks every 3 months - so roughly (x2) - cost is about 80 bucks per year.

= 280 bucks per year for maintenance health costs for both of us together.

Health insurance - I believe someone said they were paying 400 dollars per month - with more than likely no guarantee that when they really do need the insuarance that they won't be dropped.

seems to me, I'd rather stick that 400 per month into a savings account or money market account (if you want interest earned) or even an old mason jar (if you just want to make sure you know where it is) and cut out the middle man.

I wonder how much the Government Run Health Care would cost me?

2012 is a long, long way away - he's got to get his team past 2010, and I think that's going to be pretty difficult. The People are riled up, and he isn't doing much to calm them with the name calling his teammates are doing. It should be pretty obvious to them they've made a grave calculated error. Let's see if they can correct it before the next election.

Rocks I actually think he will get reelected but it has nothing to do with this thread. Many people support a candidate that meets more of their needs than another. That does not mean they write a blank check for them to do anything they wish. As Obama is painfully finding out. If he doesn't change his attitude towards all the people he will lose. Americans find arrogance despicable.

I am afraid that we will NEVER know since so much of the cost will be hidden in increased taxes to small and large business as well as to income. Your "true cost" will be covered up in the INCREASED cost of goods and services that you choose to purchase

BBBut with the new reforms you will not have a choice and you will be taxed maybe jailed if you refuse to submit to registration. History repeats itself if forgotten.

I certainly hope you are mistaken. I think that when "the people that elected him" realize how badly they were let down, how election promises were not fulfilled, that there can be "NO FREE LUNCH"....perhaps they simply won't vote in the next election. I can't think of how far into a socialist republic we will be if we have the current administration for 8 years.

Dental insurance - have none, also.

3 years ago I had to have major dental work done - total cost around 2500 dollars. (I had about 6 teeth pulled - one by a dental surgeon because the regular dentist couln't do it.)

Made payments - paid it off - no problem.

What's my point?

My point is that there is nothing the Govt. can give you or do for you that they cannot either take away, or that you could DO FOR YOURSELF (for much less money, I might add

)

What happened to people taking responsibility for their own health care or their own bill paying? I'll tell ya what (I think it is, anyway) - they started to believe that since the Govt. was willing to GIVE them healthcare (medicaid, medicare, etc...) that the Govt. was entitled to keep on giving it to them, and expand and do more and more.

The Amish folks around me have no insurance - they consider it Gambling (I think I'm with them

) - when one of them has a catastrophic accident or a high medical bill - they all get together and have an auction or a benefit to help their fellow community member to pay the bills.

They don't suddenly change their minds or their values and ask the Govt. to step in. They tough it out and make payments and rely on their community to be there for them (as they are there for their community when it is another member who needs help).

I had one mommy and one daddy thankyouverymuch - and I didn't call either of them "Mr. President".

For the record, I hope I am wrong too.
