I think you have been doing a great job with her so far. I am no professional by any means, but you are giving her patience, love, forgiveness, and training. She is in great hands! I hope she continues to improve and you get more and more positives! Even if she never acclimates to other dogs, that isn't the end of the world, as long as you can control her on your end. Yes, there are very stupid, and sometimes well meaning people out there, who don't understand that not every dog loves having another dog run up to them and get in their face. I mean, honestly, I don't like it when other people invade my personal space, so why should my dog put up with it? It drives me crazy when people don't follow leash laws.

Keep up the good work! I love hearing about the positives!:)

I dont even like people standing too close to me in lines. I have a personal space bubble and...guess what? You arent ANY closer to getting there by being closer to the person in front of you.:barnieI think our society has just gotten very selfish and narcissistic. Probably due to social media and not actually dealing with REAL people on a daily basis.
Anyways Duchess has been very good. Shes going to the bathroom at night and not having accidents. My SO got a little frustrated with her because he took her on a long walk (even though I told him that should be her bathroom reward) and she did not go potty. He brought her back to the porch. 10 minutes later I walked her in the fenced in area. She pooped right away. This frustrated him more but I explained to him that her going in the fence is probably territorial. She should go potty BEFORE a long walk. I didn't want to say I told you so but...:smackI think he would at least benefit from a class with her.

Is she leashed when she 'goes' for you in the yard?
Hard for two people to give the same messages to the dog....will take him longer as you spend more time with the dog.
Hang in there.

On and off. When the chickens arent out shes off leash. When they are out shes leashed. It doesnt really seem to make much a difference at least for me. I think he just needs to build that relationship and trust with her

She wouldn't go potty before I left to go to the library and I knew she had to go because she hasnt gone pee since 6 AM. I crated her and ran to the library trying to be as quick as possible. No accidents in the crate and peed as soon as I let her out. Shes actually coming to me after she pees now for the treat. I picked up Mine!, Behavior Adjustment Training by Grisha Stewart, M.A and Train Your Dog Positively by Victoria Stilwell. They didnt have as much selection as I had hoped. A ton of it was Cesar Millan. I'll see about purchasing Fight! on Amazon. I like how short the Mine! book is. Should be a quick read for me

Duchess has been very good. The incontinence has stopped and she is going potty before bed and in the morning. I noticed something yesterday that indicates to me that the leash is causing her to bed defensive around other dogs. Our neighbor walks his dog down the road every day when he gets home. If she's in the house she will growl and bark out the window but if shes on the porch off leash (we have a baby gate set up and the yard is fenced in) she whines. It's an excited whine like "oooo I want it. I wanna play with it" I'm taking it as a sign that her aggression is just defensive which should be slightly easier to work with. I wont know for sure with out a direct interaction. My question is when do you think she will be ready for that? Ive realised the dog park was a mistake and we will not be returning. I know I want to have the current behavior at 100 percent before anything more is done as we do mot want a repeat. I read Mine! but it was very technical. It was a very hard read and not enjoyable. She knows what she is talking about but it was like reading a textbook.

Need more data before any conclusions are drawn, IMO.
Try her on the leash on the porch with you holding leash.
This daily occurrence has set you up for testing multiple variables.
How well do you know neighbor... and their dog?

They are very new. Our porch is on the backside of our house so she can't even see his dog but she can smell her. When they first moved in about 5 months ago his dog got loose and ran into our yard. Obviously this was before Duchess came into our lives but that was the only interaction we have had with them. They did not come to the neighborhood pot luck. Their dog is also a border collie and female. We will be utilizing his walks by for testing. She will not be allowed off leash in the front yard at any point to ensure his dog's safety. I thought about drawing up a scientific method board of situations to test. I figure we will start slow with her being on the back porch while he walks by. Getting the scent and observing the reaction. As the reaction nullifies bring her to the front porch while he walks by and so on from there
