Bummer on the chicken...I don't think anything would keep Taz away...not even hotwire...
I would also suggest getting a buddy or two for your singleton.
Tell your son that we've all done things like that and our birdies get taken...It's happened to me too. I didn't put the other piece of the tray in the rabbit hutch and my EE Tom was killed by a raccoon when he got in. And yes, I beat myself up about it too.

So glad to hear the outcome worked itself out. I'm so sorry about your loss and tell your son that we all have done things that we regret....yes even adults make mistakes. I bet he's learned a valuable lesson though. Very unfortunate. Welcome to BYC as we are always happy to have new members we can call family.
