Hello everyone,

Wanting to share our new 3 week old babies and start soliciting any guesses about sex or breed 🙃 I know they're a bit young to have any definitive answers, but it seems like people are into the guessing game on here.

For context we have 12 chicks who should be all female but I know sexing is rarely 100%. The only one whose breed I'm certain of is Trout (Barnevelder) because they were banded on arrival. I know I have 2 Super Blues and 2 white easter eggers and 1 Delaware. Because they were all yellow as chicks and are feathering our white they're hard to distinguish by breed. The other 6 are "assorted brown layers"

1: Trout, fairly certain they're a Barnevelder, convinced (probably irrationally) they might be a rooster.

2: Stark I believe could be a gold laced wyandotte.

3: Doppio. Also I think could be a gold laced wyandotte. She's much much smaller than everyone else in the flock.

4: Hedwig. I think she's either a white easter egger or the delaware.

5: Wanda here I believe could be a jersey giant.

6 & 7: Malasada and Beignet I think could both be buff orpingtons. (Cont. in comments)

8: Breve, I'm fairly certain is the Super Blue because of her muff. Hands down the sweetest in the bunch.

9: Cricket, I think is another Jersey Giant.

10: Storm I believe is the other Super Blue because she also has a bit of a muff.

11. Tofu, I think by default must be a white easter egger.

12: and finally Dr. Jill, so named because I thought she might be the Delaware but I supposed she could also be one of the white easter eggers.

Hello your babies are soo adorable! ❤ Doppio looks like he's a cockerel and the rest looks like pullets😊

My thoughts though could be wrong. Thinking all pullets
1 - Barnevelder
2 & 3 - Partridge Rock based on comb type and leg colour
4 - Delaware
5 & 9 - Jersey Giants if combs are single. Might be the photo but close up of combs would help.
6 & 7 -buff Orpingtons
8 & 10 - Super Blue
11 & 12 - white EE’s based on pea comb and leg colour.
I think you were pretty spot on! Hopefully they grow to be everything you hoped! :)

I agree except for 4 it personally looks more columbian to me so maybe Columbian Wyandotte or Rock, comb pics needed. I also want to add for 5 and 9 that Jersey Giants have yellow skin so if they actually have white or pink, Australorp is the most likely

That surprises me because they're definitely the runt, but their comb is definitely is the most pronounced despite their size so I think that makes sense. Just didn't occur to me. I'm hoping for 1 or 2 roosters. We have the ability to split the coop and run if need be.

I didn't know that about the skin. I think at least one of them has pink skin so maybe they are Australorps! It's hard to tell in the photos, but they really are massive compared to the other birds besides the Barnevelder.

Oooh, thanks for your insight. We're going to do a deeper dive into comb research and maybe post improved pictures down the road. I'm going to look up the partridge rock. ☺️

Edit: I definitely think you're right about the partridge rocks now that I've seen pictures of them as chicks and they both have what appears to be single combs. It's sounds like there's some pretty obvious indicators of cockerels among the PR so hoping I'll have more clarity around Doppio in particular in the next week or two.

Also, feeling a bit silly that our Delaware is not who we thought but Dr. Jill is keeping her name! 😅
