So, I currently have a mixed flock of about 40 birds.
I have all of my large fowl birds together in their large coop,
four 5 month old frizzled silkies in a coop together,
four 6/7 week old silkies in a crate in the coop (the big coop for the LF)
eleven 3 week old silkies in a brooder in the garage.
My end goal is to obviously have all of the silkies in their own coop (after removing all of the cockerels but 1-2) and have all of the larger fowl together as they already are. The 6/7 week old silkies have coccidiosis which I immediately treated with corid as I had it on hand. I have never dealt with coccidiosis and I’m unaware as to whether or not I should treat everyone? Just my LF birds as they are the only ones with access to where their crate is located? All in the event I’ve handled anyone after touching these infected birds?
Also, I have a 4ish month old Easter Egger that is losing sickle feathers and some right around where they typically do their preening. It does look as though they’ve been plucked out but I’m not sure why. The coop has plenty of food and plenty of resources for them. She’s the only one that’s have any issues with feather loss in this manner. Could it be from the cockerels? It’s not where I have known to see roughage from over mating.
I can upload pictures later if it’s helpful. I’m not home and was unable to take any last night/this morning.
Thanks!
