a few questions about pumpkin seeds

I have heard all over BYC about pumpkin seed being a good wormer for chickens. I have a few questions.

1. Do they prevent all kinds of worms or just a specific type?

2. Are the eggs affected when the hens eat the seeds?

3.How should I feed it to them? I was thinking right out of the pumpkin, but should I chop up the seeds or mix them with yogurt or something?

4. How many pumpkins do I need for about 30 chickens?

I think from what I've read about pumpkin seeds is that you'll need quite abit of them chopped up and/or crushed to be an effective worm preventative, but not for an infestation...that's when you see worms in their poop. I have no clue how many you'll need for that many chickens. Good luck.

I read on here I believe and agree with dawg that pumpkin seeds is a preventive not a treatment. I bought some for my chooks and they wouldn't eat them so I did, guess I don't have to worry about worms now.

Ok that's fine with me. I don't think my chickens have worms, but I wanted to be safe. So I guess I should change my first question to prevent instead of cure.

I think if you shell the seeds they eat them- that's what my daughter did for her girls. I however have not quite the patience for that!

My feed store sells 50 lb bags of pumpkin seeds and that is what I feed my girls.
