a few questions - duck eggs in lockdown

I’m trying to catch up
I never make a safety hole in an egg unless there is internal pip or a bruise happens outside the air cell and then I will make a pin hole in the middle of the bruise
Some of those eggs look far from hatching
There is way to much liquid and room yet
The deep shadowing usually see internal pip within 48 hours but can go 72
What was your humidity at during incubation
I just had turkeys hatch on their own with saddle air cells
Just make sure the correct end is facing up
No the babies can’t get shrink wrapped when the egg is not even open yet
I have never had it happen and I’m in and out of my bator moving hatched babies abc rolling eggs back over after the little ones played soccer
With a call duck some like to make safety hole only as big as the tac pin ( they don’t need a hole you can see in ) that dries the membrane out
You can make this hole after baby has made internal pip
Just remember the time and give baby lots of time to absorb

Yeah I thought egg 6 and 8 were a bit behind but they seem to be rocking a lot and egg 6 looks like its trying to make an internal pip although they are all on day 28 at the moment.

Yup egg 4 has made an internal pip (pretty sure, I candled it earlier today and saw its beak and heard chewing/yawning but no peeping yet so I could be wrong)

Okay that's good to know that they can't be shrink wrapped
Our incubator isn't the best and it doesn't say the humidity, it just has like a tray (they can't get into it when they hatch btw) that fills with water and I've just added a bit more water since lockdown. (But I plan to get a new incubator this year before hatching more ducks)

Okay! So if I'm correct that egg 4 has made an internal pip, I should make a safety hole 24 hours after if no external pip? They are all rocking and moving quite well.

What do I do if the other ones don't make internal pips anytime soon (soon I guess a few days from now since they are on day 28)?

This is excellent advice

I was correct about egg 4 being internally pipped!! I'm very happy and excited, I can hear its little peeps!! I expect a baby to start hatching by tomorrow (hopefully but if not I'll have to make a safety hole :))

Hi so since egg 4 has externally pipped over 24 hours ago, when do I need to start assisting? I hope it's not shrink wrapped since I do open the incubator to check the other eggs for internal pips (though it's only open for about a second or so, I try to be quick) and I always add more water after to keep the humidity up
At the moment, it's peeping and moving a LOT so I think it may be getting ready to zip soon but I'd like to know when to help if I need to!

So egg 4 hatched last night!! Her name is Lamb :) But it's day 31 and eggs 6, 7 and 8 havent made internal pips yet and I'm worried about losing them.. (tho egg 6 and 7 are still trying but I'm not seeing much movement in egg 7.. could be losing her) is it okay to make a safety hole and help them out?
