So sorry to hear you lost your ducks, that is always tragic no matter what circumstances. This last fall I was sitting in the large chicken yard when I glanced up from my book to watch an adolescent fox trot by, who knew the chickens were there, not afraid of me at all. The husband came out and got it an hour later, but missed the mama and sibling. Since shooting one, we haven't seen any foxes, but that doesn't mean they aren't around.

Wow! how did you catch them?

Last night, well early in the morning just after daybreak I went out to wait for the fox and it had already killed one of the hens that came out of the shed early. Sat there and ate the WHOLE chicken, everything except feathers and gizzards!!

Bones and all... and came right up next to my house to do this!!

It also tore off part of the lower fencing that I had attached to the bottom of my 5' chain link pen to keep raccoons from pulling any chickens through.

this sounds like a coon fox normally do not have this level of dexterity

Grrrrrrrrrr. No chickens were out in the pen yet and it still did this trying to unsuccessfully get to their houses. Must be awfully hungry or very mean. I put two strands of hot wire up around the shed where I have a goose and two hens sitting. Rest of them are all put up safe. I will be up BEFORE dawn this morning. Just cannot have this.

My geese do not want to even go to the pond, which is about 250 ft. from my back door and I have the 3 female ducks put up. The one that was with the boys laid an egg and is sitting...maybe she will have some of their babies. I hope, I hope

They were wonderful, comical and very brave ducks and I miss them terribly.
