A girl?

Hi all,

My bantam buff orpington was desperate to hatch babies, today they have started to hatch. All chicks except one are the result of a lavender araucana rooster x black araucana hen. This darker one has the same lavender araucana rooster father but the bantam buff orpington with it is the mother. There's a light spot on its head. Any chance at all that it's a female based on this?

Nope, you’ll have to wait for when it’s older to see what it actually is! They’re not sex link chicks so you can tell what gender they are until they are older.

How many days old are they? Wing/Feather sexing is inaccurate, you have to wait until they are about 8-10 weeks old and you will be able to guess.

I’ve tried wing sexing, it is inaccurate. Otherwise all the major egg companies would be using that method, but they don’t as it is inaccurate... Come back when they’re about 8-10 weeks old and we should be able to tell.
