I hatched a hybrid duck about two months ago and he's part Giant Pekin and I noticed that once he hatched and could stand he kept hitting the heating element ring. He didn't get burnt but I'm hatching two more and am 90% positive they are the same breed that the first duck was, so I'm a bit concerned if they might burn themselves once they have strength to stand in the bator. So, I heard about Hatchers. What are they? Is it recommend that I should get one for this problem? If so where do I get one? -Thanks

Maybe you need to put them in a brooder which is a rubber maid tote the kind you get from wal mart just put clean towels or something in the bottom and clip the light to the side and that should stop them from bumping their heads on it.

Are you using an old bator?

Newer hovabators are deep. I hate goslings in mine and have never had a problem those. I can't imagine a duck hatcing out bigger than a goose.

I don't even know if they still sell expansion rings for them any more.
