I agree but that chicken is half grown already.

I think I'd still prefer trying to introduce pullets to pullets rather than hens - they may be a little more accepting of newcomers. Also for the sake of the current chicken, I'd want them to learn that they're a chicken/that there's others out there sooner rather than later, if possible.

Why July? Easier to integrate chickens while they're all young.

Because I want to get a full grown chicken when I get one. Just to be safe, I want my chicken to be full grown too.
