I think that, perhaps, Walt meant in general, meaning that if you check the first 50 pages of the Standard all of these defects are defined and many illustrated.

Oh, Ok. Well, I was also worried about the "how did this happen?" aspect. Several writers also said this could be caused by overnutrition. I thought that was interesting. We start collecting eggs today for our hatching season so it will be revealing at least. Hopefully my 2 boys aren't carriers and we can stop this, in this year.

If you don't have the best birds on the planet you better keep records.......particularly if you are new to breeding (10 years or less) and particularly if you have problems like the wing problems mentioned here.

Angel wing is usually only found in waterfowl. The proper terms for these wing problems are in the APA Standard.

OK I'm a learning lurker and when the wing conversation started I looked hard in my SOP and I couldn't find Angel wing - but it skips around sometimes.
Could someone define or point me to the correct section. The others I seem to have down pat and have culled some of the Delaware's for those faults.

Angel wing only applies to waterfowl. See page 33 of the APA Standard.

Well if slipped wing and angel wing are the same thing....and it looks like
angel wing and acts like angel wing ,,,but it's not angel wing...then what is it?

I see Fig. 35. I don't get it. Where is the slipped wing ? and I don't see a twisted feather.
Are slipped wing and angel wing the same thing? only in poultry it's called slipped wing
and in waterfowl it's called angel wing?

They are not the same thing. The Standard shows a slipped wing and you posted a picture of a goose that had angel wing. They are quite different.

Karen, how old were the birds that you culled for slip wing?

26 weeks. I kept hoping it would correct itself. the one big feather on one side just stuck out at a wide angle. I can't remember if it was turn up-side-down or not. Also can't remember if it was on both sides but am sure about the one side.
I didn't know it was a defect at the time so didn't take any pictures. I just thought it was a feather development thing.

do they stick out at an odd angle? The wing in my birds was not held in an unususal position.

Can anyone show me a picture of a chicken with slipped wing which manifests as an individual feather which
overlaps in reverse order?

I don't have one, but it's pretty obvious when you see it.

It's one of those suck it up and cull it moments.
