A home of our own! *We're moved in!* New pics! (post # 148)

We made some real progress over the weekend. I just can't thank my family enough - they have all been so willing to pitch in. We wouldn't be nearly this far without their help!

The attic is now insulated (it barely had any insulation before). All the rooms have been painted except the bathroom (still making up our minds on the color) and one wall in the kitchen (dad is moving the cold air return so that the duct work can be run between the floor joists in the basement instead of below them where someone can hit their head). Carpet will be installed this week. Then we can really move in! We got most of the living room furniture moved today, so it is finally starting to feel like home!

I promise I will get around to posting pics soon. We will have DSL at the new house this week when I get around to installing it, so it won't take me ages to upload pictures anymore!

I can't wait to see more pics! Congratulations again. I hope I am where you are sometime in the next few months... working my butt off to make a real, good family home with my DH

And then maybe... making a real good family! Any plans for starting a family, or are you going to wait? You probably get asked that by your MIL, lol. I know my MIL-to-be can't WAIT for us to have kids and we're not even married yet.

I am so happy Beth for this blessed time in your and your husband's lives. This is so thrilling. I love those fall pic shots I noticed. Such a great find! Praise God! I can just imagine the fences up and the cattle in and all the other animals you'll have too. I love the idea for using the space for freezers and gourds and such.

hugs to you,
gretchen

Good luck to you! I hope you can be in your own place sometime soon, too!!!

We really do want to start a family. If it was up to Mike, we would start right now! He wants a baby SOOOO bad (and he reminds me every time he holds my 6 mo old nephew - he looks at me and says "I want one!" lol). We've only been married since June, so I am not in a HUGE hurry. I would like to wait about a year or so. We have lots of fence to build and things to do around the house right now, so I'd rather not be pregnant just yet! Besides that... he really wants me to stay home once we have kids and if that will be possible I need to work a while longer and we have to really work on paying off everything other than the house.

Gretchen, you're a sweetheart. Thank you!

More hugs for you!

Tonight I really have to make myself focus on packing up some more stuff to move. I got the whole upstairs all ready last night and Mike was planning on moving all that stuff today. That was easy, though - we don't LIVE up there... just stored our wedding gifts and some other stuff up there! It's much harder to pack up the areas that we're still living in! I can't wait until everything is one place again!

ahhhhhh ! I am so happy for you both !!!L O V E >>>> Your a smart girl !! To be putting up fences when your out to there and you cannot see your feet is not a good thing...enjoy this chapter in your life and then when you both start a new chapter in your life with children it will be less stressful...well okay I'm lying...lets say not as stressful...ha ha ha !!!,.....will be good memories to tell the kids....

It's been a while - things have been really busy here. We had a hectic and stress filled weekend. It got to the point where I was in tears and my mom insisted I go buy some wine coolers and drink one because I needed to relax! Neither my mom nor I are big drinkers, so it had to have been bad for her to suggest that!

Actually the last couple of weeks have been crazy... DH's car got backed into with a loader at work and totalled, he slid into a tree with the farm truck, and my car got a slice in the sidewall of a tire and needed a new tire, so we were limited on vehicles to move stuff. We're waiting for money from his company for the car so we can use that money to fix his truck. We managed to get a used tire for my car for now. Oh well. Sorry... guess I needed to vent a bit.

On a more positive note - we have almost all of our stuff here (the hog house, the dog houses, and some fencing stuff still needs moved but that's about it). The whole house has been painted inside. The carpet has been installed. The chickens are here with us! Oh and we have DSL now! I promise I'll get some new pictures up sometime this week. Right now I'm living amid a sea of boxes - I hope in a couple of weeks it will feel more like home!

Edited to add
2468, I babysat my nephew today while trying to unpack some boxes and help my 17 year old sister-in-law work on a project for her vo-ag class. I definitely didn't get as much unpacking done as I had planned! I'm definitely feeling like waiting a little while on kids is a good idea right now.

So I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures to share!

I still have to make curtains and finish unpacking and making it look more like a home, but I thought I'd share the pictures of the newly painted rooms with you.

The living room:
Before - grayish brown walls

IMG_3479.jpg

After - light tan walls and a more warm brown color on the fireplace wall to complement the colors in the fireplace better

The master bedroom:
Before - Pale pink walls

IMG_3490.jpg

After - brown walls and a red accent wall (we wanted the whole room red at one point, but thought it would be too much)

The office/sewing room:
Before - way too purple walls (for my taste anyway)
IMG_3480.jpg

After - Green walls... it's a such a nice and calming color. I can't wait to get back to sewing and quilting, especially with the extra room I have now to work!! Ignore the mess on the desk... I'm still putting things away and it is terribly cluttered right now

The bathroom:
Before - green walls (which I didn't mind, but we decided to repaint it anyway)
IMG_3471.jpg

IMG_3473.jpg

After - Kind of mustard yellow walls which will look great with the shower curtain I hope to be able to use eventually (removing stall shower so we can have a closet and adding a shower head on the tub eventually)

Spare bedroom:
Before - gray walls
IMG_3487.jpg

After - Blue walls and the pack and play I keep around for my sweet little nephew.
IMG_3594.jpg

The hallway:
Before - Gray and kind of dark
IMG_3489.jpg

During - my wonderful hubby laying down on the job!

Nah, he was trimming the hallway so I could roll it.

IMG_3535.jpg

After - same tan as the living room... much brighter. This is my bargain hutch I got along with my livingroom furniture on Craigslist.
