A home of our own! *We're moved in!* New pics! (post # 148)

We bought a property similar to yours in Oct 2008, I know what you are going through and am STILL going through it, LOL. It just takes time to get it just like you want it. Next week we start bulldozing and clearing 3 more acres for additional pasture land and prepping a site for a new barn. Congrats on your found treasure!

Your property and house is WONDERFUL!! What a great place to raise a family. Congratulations and may you make many wonderful memories there.

Thanks! It's kind of neat knowing someone else is going through pretty much the same thing. We probably won't start clearing for more pasture until spring, but I'm looking forward to it! Do you have any pics of your place to share?

Shhh... don't mention a new barn around my hubby! I know he wants one, but that's something that is going to have to wait for now!

I don't have any on this computer(new laptop) but as soon as I get my desktop hooked up to the "net" I'll send you some. We are so far out in the sticks that the only internet I could get was Satellite or wireless through verizon...we went with verizon but are in the process of changing to satellite, ugh!

But I'm not going to complain too much, I love being out here with the gorgeous views of the South Mountains.
I didn't realize how expensive land clearing could be...we are hoping to sell some of the timber from our land to kind of help even out the cost. We have several members at our church that own logging companies and they have expressed interest...

I'm really excited for y'all....it's great to hear of other people out there with the same interests. Oh, and by the way, my real name is Beth, too!Ellymae is just my nickname.

I understand. I can only get dial-up where I live now... the new house has access to DSL, though, so I'm excited!

We are very fortunate as far as the land clearing aspect. DH's family has a logging and chipwood business. I'd like them to come in and help, but I don't know if they will. If not, we do have access to several bulldozers that we can borrow and DH used to work for the family business so he is quite skilled with a chainsaw. I hope you can sell some of the timber to help you out!!!

Lol... how cool is that? I'm actually an Elizabeth, but I've been called Beth my whole life.

I was Beth Ann until I started getting older and wanted a more grown up sounding name, lol. So my parents shortened it to Beth. I'm in my thirties and STILL get called Beth Ann by my aunts, uncles, grandparents so I have to continue to answer to both, lol.
DH and friends now call me Ellymae because of all my critters and plus I never really outgrew being a tomboy.

That's cool. I am Elizabeth Ann, but I have a few neighbors and family members who call me Beth Ann! I can answer to Beth or Beth Ann, but sometimes it takes me a minute when someone calls me Elizabeth!

Lol... EllyMae is perfect then! I'm a tomboy, too, but that shouldn't surprise you!

You being a tomboy doesn't surprise me a bit...I knew when I was reading your posts that you were probably stamped from the same mold I came from, LOL! How cool! We will definitely have to keep up with each others progress. I'm sure it won't be easy, but we will have fun with the adventure!

We will definitely have to do that, EllyMae!

I haven't been around much - we've been spending a lot of time down at the new house. I think we'll have everything painted this week.

Carpet should be in next week, and then we can move in!

What a lovely place! I would love to have that much room for a bigger garden, raise some beef and grow my own hay...maybe someday.
