>~* A Howl At Midnight>~* A FORGOTTEN DOGS ROLEPLAY!

Seeker easily found a hold on Birch and matched Cave`s foot falls. Stepping into the river she didn`t even shiver as the cold water hit her. "No matter what, don`t let your grip slip, Cave."

Cave didn't respond, verbally or otherwise, as they stepped into the water. She was tempted to lift her feet higher to keep them dry, but it would've been pointless. Soon the water was up to her belly. Then her neck. Then she was paddling, spreading her toes wide to propel herself through the water.

Slick shook himself, as if flinging the fight from his pelt. "I'm good," he woofed. "I didn't get here til the very end, sadly."

Raksha nodded. "Good. I wouldn't risk swimming across with her by yourself still..." she drifted off, looking around for another uninjured dog. "Cave! C'mere, you and Seeker are going to carry Birch across," she ordered.

The energetic pointer's head popped up, and she trotted quickly over to where Raksha and Seeker stood. She nodded to Seeker. "Whenever you're ready," she woofed respectfully, her short tail wagging with nervous excitement.
Onyx gave him a brief nod before turning to Forest to inspect her injuries.

Seeker stood on Birch`s right side, ready to pick her up.
~
Faylane nodded and turned and trotted over to Squirrelflight and Hollyshadow "Squirrelflight, let me help out with her."
Squrrielflight let out a sharp snarl."No." She growled."I'm...Im sorry, Faylane I didn't mean to snap...Just, I'm fine, I can take her."

Raksha overheard this from where she stood, but chose not to interfere, at least for now. She watched quietly from near the river bank, one eye on Cave and Seeker, and the other on Faylane and Squirrelflight.

Squrielflight padded into the water, her side was crying out with pain, but she ignored it. She slid into the icy water, hoping the cold would numb the pain.

Another wave of pain pulsed through Reed's head, as if something was trying to dig out of his head from the inside. He groaned miserably. "I'm going to lay down. If you have any questions, ask... Owl. She's in charge until I wake up," he growled. Slowly, he stood up, taking each step as if he was walking in a storm, and the wind was about to push him over. As he entered his den, his paws found his nest for him and he collapsed into it's soft embrace.

He closed his eyes and instantly fell asleep.

Owl, not visibly riled before by Reed's sudden deprivation of strength- in fact, if anything, she'd seemed oddly calm-, suddenly whirled around and slammed her paws down whiskers away from Rocket's muzzle. "SHUT UP."

"Because you yelled super loud," whispered Jade, still loud enough for their new alpha to hear. She almost felt good when he left.
Reed was asleep
Otherwise he would've given Owl a nice cold glare.
Rocket visibly flinched. "O-oh. Sorry," She woofed quickly. If it had been any other dog, she would have snapped a quick comeback. But this was Owl, the famously cold coyote who Reed had just declared was in charge. She slunk away, her tail between her legs.

Birch snarled as she approached the river, a cold wave of fear flooding her pelt. She looked back, still hearing howling just a bit back. "Squrrielflight...Hollyshadow!"She let out a howl."No!"She screeched, Gathering her remaining strength and scrambling up the slope. She saw a black wolf and another unknown coyote attacking Squrrielflight and Hollyshadow. The white Shedog raced down the slope, grabbing Hollyshadow's scruff and flinging the young coyote away from Onyx's Grip."Run, Squrrielflight, Run!" She snarled, kicking the Shedog from Forest's grasp.

~

Squrrielflight yelped, a sharp pain shooting through her chest, and she winced."Maybe a broken rib or to..."She wheezed, grabbing the barley conscious Hollyshadow by the scruff, and jumping up the slope, her face twisted in pain.

~

Birch howled loudly, Pain flooding her pelt. She scrambled up the slope, away from the blood thirsty wolves. She slid down the hill, Her head buzzing. She stopped, crouching down, her breath wheezy. "I...."She dropped down, her eye's closing and her sight fading into blackness, and she could hardly hear the noises of the other canines surrounding her.

@HoodedHuntress

Slick yanked a tuft of fur out of his enemy's pelt as she fled, then glanced to Onyx, watching for a cue to give chase.
With the rogues distracted, Stormcloud made his escape, dodging nimbly away from a rogue's jaws. He scrambled after the she-dogs, but, realizing he wasn't needed, watched them forlornly from the crest of the hill. I.. I guess I'm alone again. He thought, watching the pack-dogs as they began to cross the river.
XP

Squrrielflight set down Hollyshadow, clenching her jaw in pain."Thanks a lot, Aplha....You broke my rib I think."She growled."Alpha?"She crawled over to her Alpha."Alpha?"She murmured."No, no....No no no..."She nudged the white Shedog's pelt."we have to get across the river!"She snarled, raising her voice for every dog to hear.

Raksha's ears pricked sharply at the distressed voice. "Who got knocked out this time," she muttered in exhausted irritation. She stopped as she realized how what she had just said sounded. "Wow, living up to the old name now, am I?" she woofed sarcastically to herself. "Who hear has enough fur and strength left to carry themself and another dog across?" she barked loudly, briefly wondering where Storm pack was at.
Raksha sighed, then studied an interesting pebble as she thought. "Two dogs then. One on each side," she woofed, her firm tone quivering with worry. Her slender legs weren't exactly efficient under water, and her short fur wasn't intended to be insulating. She had had a hard time getting across the first time, and that was in full health, but now....
The thought of not touching River pack territory again made her shiver, and not just with cold.

Onyx growled angrily, his mouth and teeth reddened with the blood of his enemies. He muttered "Let them go. They are weak and in pain. We will finish them off later when they mend their wounds." he snapped his teeth, before adding "The more pain, the better." Returning to a more sensible manner, he questioned attentively "Is anyone injured? Forest? Slick?"

"I can take one dog with me, I seem to have the least of the wounds." Seeker barked. Walking up to them. "I can see if I can take her."

Squrrielflight nodded to Rashka, and whirled around.

~

Hollyshadow let out a gasp, Her eye's snapping open, She pushed herself up, slowly, Panting as pain zig-zagged across her chest and side."Squrriel...Squrrielflight..."She coughed."Thank you."She shuddered.

~

Squrrielflight stayed still, not wanting to touch the Shedog-Onyx had injured her enough."I didn't save you though....Bi-I mean, Alpha did."

~

Hollyshadow looked past her elder sister, To see Birch, barley breathing behind the orange she wolf."No....."Hollyshadow hissed,"No...No no....She can't...She isn't.....Is she?"

Slick shook himself, as if flinging the fight from his pelt. "I'm good," he woofed. "I didn't get here til the very end, sadly."

Squrrielflight stopped Hollyshadow when the she dog tried to scramble over to the Alpha."Thanks guys."she woofed, grabbing Hollyshadow by the scruff."I can walk by myself."Hollyshadow snarled."Really, After that wolf broke your ribs? I don't think so."Squrrielflight snarled."Shut up and let me carry you."The orange she wolf stepped into the water, shivering.

Cave followed, her typically rushed pace even more hasty today. She positioned herself on Birch's left side and prepared to pick her up by the loose skin on the side of her neck.

~

"I'll bet we could find you someone to help out..." Raksha woofed distantly. "I'd team up with you myself, but to be honest I doubt it'll be easy getting just me across," she admitted. "Here, go see if Squirrelflight and Hollyshadow need your help."
Riverfire opened his mouth to volunteer, but realized he was too late and closed it without saying anything.

Troutfin swam swiftly across the river, his nose bobbing just out of reach of the icy waves.

Rocket crept up to Raksha. "So... I guess this means goodbye." She said, trying to look cheerful, but failing. Her tail thumped the ground, then drooped down once again. She would miss Raksha, she was one of the only canines that seemed to understand her wry sense of humor. She kinda reminds me of Scar... except with more respect for Pack Law, that is. I wonder, if they were in the same pack, would they have been friends? "Well, I suppose we'll see each other in the occasional border skirmish, eh?" She woofed, a mischievous sparkle lighting up her eyes. Then the spark faded as she realized that Rip Pack didn't really have much of a border with River.

o wow. So many pages... When I was last on there was like 620... Does Canyon Pack plus my characters have any relevance? I'm now more active on BYC, as before I just couldn't be very active.

Raksha's ears fell in disappointment as she realized that she might not get to see Rocket again. "Well... I'm not one to deliberately start a fight, but I suppose on occasion we could stir something up," she murmured, her voice just above a whisper. Her yellow eyes sparkled mischievously and she gently nudged Rocket away. "You better get back, I've gotta ride rough shot on all these hooligans," she barked. "Take care, kid."
You'd better still be alive next time I see you.

Rocket smirked. "Well, see ya!" She yipped, starting to trot away. She then stopped, turning to watch Raksha wade into the water. I'm a dishonor to coyotes, befriending a River Pack dog. Soft-hearted Rocket. That's what my grand-pups will call me. She thought jokingly to herself, turning back towards the direction of Rip Pack.
