Reed opened up his stride. "I have to get to camp out of that dogs sight" he realized.

Coals instinct told her to stop, but she pounded on, panting heavily. She slowed to a speedy canter and sniffed the air. "No patrols" she woofed aloud. "Wasn't expecting that."
She lowered her head and picked up her peace again, determined not to let Dotpup suffer another injury.

~Dotpup let her gaze wander back to where they had come. More unrecognizable shapes pounded through the undergrowth, presumably in pursuit of them. Oh, Coal, no, they'll be waiting to attack you!~

~Stream bristled with rage at being ignored, but also with apprehension that the unthinking she-wolf would be attacked. "Coal!" she barked sharply, standing stiff-legged and immovable on the border. "I order you to come back!"~

Coal slowed to a reluctant stop. She looked back at Stream, fear taking over her once again. " Alpha, he's the only one out here! He's alone!!!" She barked, her voice carrying easily through the sharp, cold air. "I can catch him!"

(Ooooh snap, Coal's going to da dark side!.... )

Shadow shrugged. "Idaknow, I've just never heard you talk about him before" she barked.
Then her whole head snapped towards the border. "Intruders?" She growled questioningly, "on the star howl?!"

~Stream twitched, fuming at her own inability to come to a decision. "Coal," she hissed, her voice trickling across the midnight meadow like an actual snake's. "Do you actually clarify that he's the only one there?!"~
