He swallowed once, ashamed at the conflicting emotions he was feeling, then leaned down and fastened his jaws around her throat. The pulse of her life artery reverberated in his mouth. He was overtaken by a sudden guilt so strong that he almost let go and raced away, but then thoughts of all the turmoil he endured engulfed him, and Rip-tide bit down. A geyser of blood exploded in his mouth as his teeth pierced the vein of life. A whimper escaped from his jaws and he scrabbled away, grieved at what he had down. "I'm sorry," he murmured, bowing his head. "You were the wrong target."~

I literally felt sick to my stomach reading this.
