hi I don't know wether to get Buff Orpington or Sussex. I like both and want 3 hens for pets. I already have a lot of chickens but they are free range and not so friendly. I have too many roos , not enough hens so also for that. I also don't know where I could get them I live in Hawaii so it may be a little hard so yah, a little help.

I have a Sussex who will not leave me alone. She is an incurable pest... but I love her dearly. Having said that, my Buffs are beautiful and they are wonderful layers. Maybe a little of both? You know, a preliminary screening so to speak. :D

You can have a mean Buff even though they may be rated good, or you can have a sweet one. You can have a mean Sussex, or you can have a sweet one. It's called chicken math! Now, I much rather have Buff's. My Sussex's can be a royal PAIN. Gee, they really get on my nerves. But they may be the ideal breed for you! This is just my opinion. From personal experience and from opinion, I'd say Buff. But your call and choice. Your money and hands. I'd also rate the Buff's as an ideal starter breed. Best wishes!! (Please fill us in when decided).
