These are a little small, about 12 inches. He's caught some much bigger.

Isn't that mean goat sucker? Ack, not something we want running round loose in the "Other Pets & Livestock" Forums!!!

compared to the special bred Aischgruenders the are rather tiny. But i bet my toosh they are equally yummy.

The largets one of these I've caught is close to 30", but as far as carp goes, they are much easier to clean, w/o the mud veins!

The secret to cooking suckers is to cook them on lower heat for longer. disolves the bones

Another fav trick of mine is to put a dash of vinegar and catchup in a food saver bag, add the fillets, top with some Italian dressing and seal for overnight. Steam or smoke, then enjoy! Food saver seems to open the pores of anything put in it, and it'll make marinading a snap.

PS, sometimes I soak them in brine water before preparing them. Depends on how hungry I am

The time of year you catch them has a lot to do with the flavor too. We would ONLY eat the ones caught during Spring run-off. Otherwise we would just bury them in the garden for fertilizer.

see ours back in germany have almost no scales maybe 10-12 large ones on each side. But here in the states people dont seem to prefer bass fishing.
