IMO you can't beat a Browning A-5 12ga magnum. If you can find one, buy one. It will do everything you want and more. It will never fail you.

You made a good decision. The 870 is definitely the best shotgun on the market. I shot one for 12 years in the Louisiana swamp for ducks, deer, rabbit, squirrel, and dove. I almost never cleaned it and it never missed a lick in that harsh environment. You can take pretty much any game with it by changing loads and chokes. One day I decided to treat myself by going buy a $800 binelli. I can assure you you are only paying for a name, there. It was the worst shotgun I ever used. Worst patterns I have ever seen. The gunsmith suggested I put a $150 choke tube in it to make it shoot good!...After paying $800 for the gun?...Needless to say, i cut my losses and made an even trade on a 870 wingmaster, and will never buy another "superior" Itallian or belgian gun.
