A lone peachick

Any ideas on what happened to your peahen?

I have no idea what happened to her. We found her dead and a couple days latter i found the pea chick about 10 15 feet from the hen. We had seen her with the chick that morning then she was missing that afternoon. I could not see where any thing had wounded her and no marks to be found on her. Only thing out of the norm was the thunder storm and a massive down pour of rain for about an hour. If it was not for the other peafowl i would not of found her. They roosted on the coral that night when they usually roost in the tree's so i went out to see what they were doing roosting on the fence and noticed the hen just a few feet from where they were roosting.

Was the peachick dead, too? Maybe lightening?
