A Mess of a Hatch

The other one hatched, a chipmunk colored silkie, so we're up to 10 chicks. There's two more eggs in the incubator.

What day are the last two at, approximately?

Well, it's been about 21 days since I brought the eggs in. She did sneak some eggs in her nest after she started setting, so I figure they will hatch by tomorrow.

Eggs can take up to 24 days to pip/hatch...hopefully these don't!

They passed. I checked them and there was no movement. I had suspected one was dead for a couple of days but the other was alive last night. Sadly, it was having to have the humidity up for so long. They were both upside down and in a lot of liquid. The one that was alive last night had almost all it's yolk absorbed too. But I have 10 chicks, so I won't complain too much. The black silkie that hatched last night had crooked toes, so I made it some shoes. Hopefully they will straighten out. It hasn't been able to walk yet.

Sorry to hear that. But over all, with all the complications, you had a very good hatch.

I've had many chicks with crooked toes, and all of them turned out fine with minimal effort, even though with some it looked like they wouldn't. Hope your chick gets better quickly!
