A neighbor/acquaintance came over this evening...(a bit long)

A recap of my responses with some answers to the questions...

MissPrissy....actually she buys brown chicken eggs from an organic place. LOL Maybe next time I see her I shall explain, in detail, where the eggs she eats come from. *smirk*

We are 8 miles from the city limits and I could put a horse in the yard or a buffalo for that matter.

Her husband was standing there nodding and looking HEN PECKED

My daughter (almost 12 yrs old) was openly laughing at her...and the woman said to her "I have seen videos onTV of chickens attacking people...you better watch yourself when they grow up" Cheyenne laughed and walked into her room.

I have already told Husband that I will have a warning sign staked outside their coop that clearly warns of my attack/killer chickens and maybe one at the edge of the driveway too. hahahahahaha

I have no problem with having a fear of them, heck I had my hand bloodied several times by two very broody hens when I was young. Even had one bantam roo that would chase us kids and jump up and get us in the back. What I had a problem with was her reaction, volume, comments and attitude in my home. I was raised to conduct myself better in someone's home. Then there are these blatant facts:

1. It was a chick that cannot fly and could be swatted away easily if it attacked;

2. saying such things in front of my child;

3. Thinking for a second that as a mother and grandmother of a 3 year old I would have vicious animals in the house;

I mean it is not like I was raising rattlesnakes or had komodo dragons, tigers or vipers in the yard. She just went overboard imho. But it made for some comedy in the house mid-week.

I am soooooo glad you got the last word in. Finally, someone SAYS what they think, rather than let her get away with that behavior. Good riddance (sp?) At least those snooty neighbors will not be bothering you anymore!

You have GOT to be kidding me?

I can't believe someone would come into YOUR house and say such things. Good for you for putting her in her place.

I remember a woman coming to our house when I was a kid and she wouldn't get out of her car because she was afraid of chickens. I thought she was crazy as a loon. Still to this day don't understand how anyone could be afraid of a chicken.

At my Easter dinner on Sunday, one 75 yr old guest sat in her car because she saw my RB turkey (about 50 feet away), until I came out and escorted her in. Another 16 yr old teenager ran as fast as she could to get in the house because she thought the turkey was following her. My turkey LOVES people and is very docile and is in the yard all the time when we do yard work, etc.

I would make an exception for this kind of behavior for a young child. Also, I would not let a young child be in the yard with the turkey -- not that Tom would do anything, but I wouldn't take a chance, just in case.

I was just rolling...

Heck, it's not like Slifer was going after her with foam dripping off her beak...it was a teeny cute fuzzy butt chick...
I like the signs AND the delivery of Marshmallow Peeps!

It really amazes me that people think that chickens are so awful...At least a chicken doesn't lick it's butt.

The hubby definitely sounds majorly henpecked...poor guy.

At least you won't have to worry about Miss Nose in the Air any more.

That is so hilarious! That's terrible though. I would have simply said, "Oh, Im not a fan of chickens." or something like that. Not go crazy on them. I would definitely mess with her head by sending her chicken stuff now. Sneak up to their house and leave an egg on the porch, right in front of the door,lol.
